Daily Wire Co-CEO Blasts YouTube’s Censorship Policies

(BrightPress.org) – Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing had words for YouTube after the social media giant flagged a fair number of their creators for alleged “community guidelines violations.” The black marks against their individual accounts have a variety of negative consequences, ranging from limiting their reach and promotion through the algorithm to the all-out demonetization of controversial Christian conservative commentator Matt Walsh last month.

Boreing called YouTube out for its failure to uphold the company’s own commitment to open debate and dialogue on controversial issues. The YouTube blog post on the subject specifically states that the ability to openly debate these things is “core to the functioning of a democratic society.” Is YouTube trying to interfere with public and political discourse by pushing the values of its investors and stakeholders onto the public?

Boreing reported that his creators have been flagged over 200 times in the last several months. In addition to Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Candace Owens, Michael Knowles, and others were all flagged for violations. Both Owens and Knowles were temporarily suspended from posting for a week after receiving their second strike. YouTube operates on a “three strikes and you’re booted off permanently” model.

Almost all of the strikes related to conservative commentary on transgenderism, which the Daily Wire is firmly against, especially when it comes to minors. Their creators have been outspoken against the use of puberty-blocking chemicals, synthetic hormones, and cosmetic surgeries for children. Encouraging kids to present and behave as the opposite gender has been the latest trend pushed by social media. Many children feel they have to identify as something other than a conventional person in order to be socially accepted.

Boreing says he believes that YouTube will eventually change its policies to be more in line with the political center, but that his creators may have their accounts nuked before they update their enforcement of community guidelines.
