(BrightPress.org) – Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) had an emotional moment on July 17th. He shared a touching story about former President Donald Trump. Trump had visited families of American service members who died during Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Waltz, speaking at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, compared Trump’s actions to Biden’s. According to Waltz, Biden barely mentioned the names of the fallen. In contrast, Trump made a genuine effort to comfort the families.
Waltz began with a reminder of Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. He called it a debacle and a stain on the nation’s conscience. The 13 Gold Star families relive their loss every day.
Trump did more than just meet these families. Waltz explained that Trump had planned to spend an hour with them. Instead, he stayed for six hours. He talked to them about their loss and about their sons and daughters.
Waltz shared a heartwarming moment from the visit. A mom asked if Trump would sign a picture of her son. Waltz told her Trump would be happy to do it.
The day included dinner, where Trump made a promise. He vowed to release all tapes, videos, records, and emails related to the incident when he returns to the White House. This would provide the families with the accountability and transparency they deserve.
Waltz turned to Trump, who was in the VIP section. He appeared to choke up as he thanked Trump. Waltz said Trump helped the families heal and that America would always be grateful for that.
Waltz, who served 27 years in uniform before being elected to Congress, claims to see more danger now under Biden. He contrasted this with Trump’s presidency, praising Trump’s foreign policy decisions. Waltz mentioned Trump’s achievements, like defeating ISIS and standing with allies.
During his RNC speech, Waltz seemed to be applying for Trump’s next Secretary of Defense. This was his second appearance on stage at this year’s RNC. He reminded everyone that he was the first Green Beret elected to Congress.
