Elon Musk Gets Praise From Russia Over Peace Deal
(BrightPress.org) – Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk thinks he knows exactly how to end the war in Ukraine. On Monday, October 3, the high-profile billionaire tweeted a plan to bring the conflict to a peaceful resolution, along with a poll. While it was unpopular with his followers and Ukrainian officials, at least one Russian spokesman thinks the plan is worthy of praise.
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

Newsweek reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitri Petrov told the state-run news outlet RIA Novosti that Musk is doing a good job looking for solutions before dismissing a good deal of the billionaire’s plan. Musk’s plan includes some give and take on both sides.
First and foremost, Musk calls for elections in disputed regions with UN oversight, with Putin agreeing to leave if that’s what the people want. Petrov shrugged off the idea of asking the public’s opinion because he believes the people in contested regions have already made their choice.
Musk’s second suggestion is the unconditional surrender of the Crimean Peninsula because the area historically belonged to Russia and should revert. The next two points call on the Ukrainians for action; they must supply the Crimeans with water, and they must “remain neutral.”
Even the best of us can fall victims to misinformation. @elonmusk, how about I give you an exclusive briefing on true history of Crimea and 🇺🇦? We can discuss how Ukraine and Crimean Tatars fought together against the Russians long before 1783 and why we like Starlinks today.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova extended an invitation to Musk to sit down and discuss the historical significance of the area to Ukraine and its people.
