(BrightPress.org) – A major Democratic super PAC is rolling out a $20 million ad campaign targeting former President Trump over the events of Jan. 6th, 2021.
This campaign comes after the Republican convention and the change atop the Democratic ticket that has put Vice President Kamala Harris in the nominee’s seat. American Bridge 21st Century, the main opposition research group for the party, will begin airing ads on July 26th. It represents a significant investment in the crucial swing states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Bradley Beychok, co-founder of American Bridge 21st Century, highlighted the campaign’s focus on abortion, democracy, and freedom. He emphasized that voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are reminded that Trump is responsible for the violent attack on the Capitol, is a convicted felon, and is viewed by his own cabinet and staff as unfit to be president.
The first ad features Joe from Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, who speaks over footage of the Jan. 6th attack. Joe blames Trump for inciting the violence and describes himself as a former Republican, stating that Trump lacks a sense of right and wrong. The $20 million ad purchase is a component of American Bridge’s $200 million overall investment for the 2024 election cycle.
Biden announced he would not run for a second term amid pressure from elected Democrats to step aside. He endorsed Harris, who swiftly gained support among Democrats and secured enough delegates to become the likely nominee.
Trump and the Republican Party are dealing with a funding shortage as they prepare for the 2024 election. At the end of January, Biden’s campaign had $56 million in cash, compared with Trump’s $30.5 million. The Democratic National Committee had $24 million in the bank, almost triple the $8.7 million held by the Republican National Committee.
In November 2023, Biden’s campaign and joint fundraising efforts attracted 172,000 unique donors, surpassing Trump’s 143,000. Even with Trump actively campaigning for the Republican nomination, Biden maintained a lead as December approached.
