National Security Expert Warns of ‘Part-Time’ President Dangers

(BrightPress.org) – Former national security official Gen. Keith Kellogg (Ret) expressed his concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to remain in office for a second term. The former Army lieutenant general emphasized that the President needs to make split-second decisions at any time, highlighting the risks of having a “part-time commander-in-chief.” These remarks came as Biden prepared to address NATO leaders on July 9th.

Biden’s performance in the first presidential debate against GOP nominee Donald Trump on June 27th has raised concerns about his capacity to handle the presidency. Voices from both sides of the political spectrum are urging him to withdraw from the campaign. According to White House staffers, the incumbent struggles to work outside a 10 AM to 4 PM window or after international travel.

Kellogg drew on historical references to underline his point. He cited the Federalist Papers, where Alexander Hamilton emphasized the importance of both intellectual and physical energy for a national leader. Kellogg stressed that even from the start of the republic, having an energetic commander-in-chief was deemed essential.

Highlighting the need for a President to be available at all times, Kellogg shared examples from his experience. He mentioned that President Trump was often woken up in the middle of the night to make quick decisions, such as the operation that killed Soleimani. This, he argued, is the type of decisiveness required in a commander-in-chief.

The general pointed out that the world is watching and questioning President Biden’s ability to lead, especially with NATO leaders gathering to discuss important issues. There are concerns about whether Biden can perform the job effectively beyond a few hours a day.

Despite growing bipartisan calls for Biden to step aside ahead of the November election, the president remains determined to stay in the race. He has pledged to continue his campaign, asserting his belief that he is the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024. Biden emphasized that the democratic nominating process showed strong support for his candidacy, with him securing 14 million votes.
