(BrightPress.org) – Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress who claims to have had an intimate encounter with Donald Trump in 2006, took the witness stand to begin her testimony against Donald Trump in the notorious “hush-money” trial on Tuesday, May 7th. Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment made to Daniels through Michael Cohen, his attorney at the time, to keep quiet about the alleged illicit encounter after she wanted to go public with the story in 2016 during the presidential elections. Trump is accused of paying her off to keep the story from marring his image during the election in the wake of another salacious scandal.
Daniels was not involved in the payment process. She signed a non-disclosure agreement and received a payment of $130,000. Yet her testimony in the Manhattan courtroom has been about her career as an adult film actress and director, and her alleged encounter with Trump. Daniels inundated the judge and jury with explicit and graphic details about her alleged sexual encounter with Trump which prompted Trump’s attorneys to ask for a mistrial. Judge Merchan denied the request. Merchan did order the jury to ignore some of the more salacious pieces of Daniel’s testimony.
Other than casting Trump in a negative light before the 2024 presidential election, Daniel’s testimony appears to have had no real purpose in the trial other than the shock factor of her story or a distraction intended to prolong the trial. Merchan has ordered that Trump be present in the Manhattan courtroom every day that court is in session, which prevents Trump from campaigning in person.
During a sidebar conversation, Judge Merchan told Trump’s attorney Susan Necheles to speak with her client. Merchan said he had heard Trump audibly cursing during Daniel’s testimony and the behavior would not be tolerated in the courtroom.
At one point, Daniels crudely called Trump an “orange turd” and said she only wants the truth of the incident to be publicized.
