Quad-emic Concerns

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlights significant respiratory illness activity. This encompasses the quadruple threat of flu, Covid, RSV, and norovirus—all spreading rapidly. Emergency department visits for several of these viruses are reportedly high, and rising Covid cases amplify the burden.

The flu season typically spans December to February, intersecting with Covid and RSV spread through respiratory droplets, whereas norovirus spreads via surface contact. Approximately 91 norovirus outbreaks were reported in early December, invoking concern.

Preventive Measures and Future Outlook
