Driver Arrested after Ramming White House Gate

( – An unidentified driver crashed into a White House exterior gate just before 6 p.m. on Monday, January 8th. The driver was arrested, according to statements by the Secret Service (USSS). Agency representatives said that the crash was still under investigation, and they weren’t sure whether or not it was intentional or an accident.

USSS spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that there was no threat to the White House or any adjacent neighborhoods and officials are continuing to investigate the matter to discover what the driver’s motive was, if any.

President Biden was not in the White House at the time, he was traveling to Dallas to attend the wake of former Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson. He had finished giving a campaign speech in Charleston, South Carolina, before traveling to Texas.

The White House has had some security upgrades in recent years after a string of crashes and the 2020 BLM riots. The fencing surrounding the White House complex has been doubled in height to 13 feet after more than one individual attempted to climb over it.

A 19-year-old man crashed a U-Haul rental truck into a gate blocking an entrance to the complex in May of last year. There were no injuries, and the truck didn’t contain any weapons or explosives. The driver reportedly said he was a Hitler fan and explained to the authorities he intended to kill President Biden. Biden was in the building.

An intoxicated driver accidentally crashed into a vehicle in Biden’s motorcade in Delaware. The president was giving comments to the media on the streets of Wilmington when the crash occurred. There were also no injuries in that incident.

In early 2021, a violent man crashed a car into two Capitol Police officers, killing one and injuring the other. The attacker was shot and killed by police after brandishing a knife and lunging toward police.

A man crashed his car into the barricade near the Capitol in August 2022. After exiting the car, he fired a gun into the air multiple times and then shot himself as police surrounded him.
