Reagan’s Daughter Speaks Up, Echoes Haley’s Sentiments

White House Offers to Pay Interns for First Time

(BrightPress.org) – The daughter of the late Ronald Reagan, Patti Davis, issued comments regarding the age of presidential candidates on Sunday, February 18th. Davis suggested that potential presidents should face cognitive testing as a part of their bid for the high office and those results should be scrutinized by the public.

Before Biden’s administration, Reagan was the oldest man to be elected to office at age 69 in 1980. He was reelected again in 1984 at age 74. Reagan’s mental decline was almost as obvious as Biden’s. During the debate for the 1984 election, Reagan quipped that he wouldn’t make age an issue in the race to exploit his opponent’s “youth and inexperience,” which got a round of laughs from the crowd.

During her sit-down interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Davis suggested that cognitive tests were “probably” a good idea for candidates seeking high office. She said her father didn’t obviously express feeling old and highlighted how he was rather elderly when he famously suggested Gorbachev “tear down this wall” in Berlin in the late 1980s.

When asked about how her father would react to today’s political scene she said he’d be surprised by the vitriol in politics. She said that the two world leaders were able to see each other as individual human beings which is “missing now.” She added that her father would be “appalled” by today’s politics, adding that a lack of civility perplexed the man.

Davis believes that the current state of division is an outgrowth of fear in the cultural environment and highlights the fear of potential mass casualty events happening at schools, sporting events, or other public gatherings.

GOP candidate Nikki Haley has also suggested both Biden and Trump take cognitive tests, and she even volunteered to take one herself. Biden’s mental decline was recently made a public fiasco with the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report regarding Biden’s handling of classified information. While the report didn’t recommend charges, it highlighted that Biden had severe difficulty with memory including basics like the years he was Vice President.

Biden also confused the Presidents of Egypt and Mexico during a presser wherein he attempted to defend his mental acuity. He also confused the President of France and Angela Merkle with deceased politicians who previously held their offices.
