(BrightPress.org) – An Egyptian-American dual citizen who was freed by the Trump administration from being held in jail in Egypt in 2017 has been advocating on behalf of Hamas and calling condemnation of their mass murder of civilians and hostage-taking “morally abhorrent” in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
Aya Hijazi said she would never condemn Hamas, regardless of the tactics used in its fight against Israel. A Hamas-led surprise attack on Israel on October 7th left over a thousand Israelis and international civilians dead with some 240 hostages taken back into Gaza where they remain.
Hijazi said she refused to condemn Palestinians for fighting for their freedom and that they have previously attempted and exhausted all peaceful avenues to resolve the ongoing conflict. She further qualified condemnation of Hamas as hypocritical, saying that there is a double standard for whites who engage in land theft and mass murder in Gaza.
Trump’s team secured her release after attempts by the Obama administration failed. Hijazi was only 30 years old at the time. She had been held in prison for three years in Egypt on human trafficking allegations and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamist faction.
Hussain Abdul-Hussain with the Foundation for Defense of Democracies suggested Hijazi was ungrateful. He added that her posts were littered with venom, and she attacked the West at large using Israel as an example. He implied that without Western values she would have been a slave to a man not of her choosing and illiterate. He cited that her U.S. citizenship is what allowed her to be freed from jail in a third-world country.
Hijazi endorsed Biden in 2020 and suggested Trump freeing her was self-serving. She’s recently turned against Biden, calling him “Genocide Joe” on X and suggesting she wouldn’t vote for him again due to his support for Israel.
Cynthia Farahat is the author of “The Secret Apparatus,” a book about the Muslim Brotherhood. She suggested that Hijazi is involved with them and Hamas is their Palestinian faction, which is why she supports them completely.
