Trump’s Solution to End Ukraine War: Halt All Funding

US Sends Another Weapons Pack to Ukraine -- With Rockets This Time

(BrightPress.org) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told a Hungarian news outlet that Donald Trump revealed in a recent meeting how he would end the Ukraine-Russia war. Trump and Orban recently met at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. After their meeting, Orban said Trump declared that if he were elected as U.S. President again in 2024, he would stop all funding and aid to Ukraine. According to Orban, without aid from the United States, the war would end because Ukraine cannot stand on its own.

Previously, Trump had commented that he would “end that war in one day”, but did not specify how he would accomplish that goal. Many Republicans in Congress have also opposed allocating more funds for Ukraine. Trump has also previously boasted that if he were in office, the war in Ukraine never would have happened.

Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung stated that Trump believes European nations should be shouldering more of the cost of the conflict. He noted that U.S. taxpayers have paid “significantly more” which is unfair. Trump has always been publicly skeptical of NATO and has recently received backlash for saying he would not protect a NATO nation that was under-contributing defense funds. At a campaign event in Conway, South Carolina in February, Trump was quoted as saying “You don’t pay your bills, you get no protection.”

During his campaign, Trump has not specifically mentioned halting all funding for Ukraine but has insisted he would end the war “immediately” if he were to return to the White House.

President Biden deeply criticized Trump’s meeting with Orban, who is considered Russian President Vladimir Putin’s closest European ally. Other Trump critics say the meeting with Orban is another example of Trump embracing “autocratic leaders” including Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin.

Trump told NBC News last year that “no one is harder on Russia” than him, but he still has a “very good relationship” with Putin.
