Netanyahu Prepared to Challenge Biden’s ‘Red Line’

(BrightPress.org) – Tension is escalating between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. On Saturday, March 9th, Biden told MSNBC he believes Netanyahu is harming Israel with decisions that are killing thousands of civilians.

More than 1.2 million Palestinians from Gaza are sheltering in the city of Rafah. Netanyahu believes launching a major offensive strike in Rafah would accelerate his goal of “eliminating all of Hamas.” The White House continues to strongly urge the Prime Minister to evacuate civilians from the area before initiating an invasion. Biden said he is against an invasion of Rafah. The President even said Netanyahu pursuing that course of action would be a “red line,” but then contradicted himself by saying he would “never leave Israel.”

Netanyahu told Politico on Sunday, March 10th that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will invade Rafah. He said he has his own “red line,” and that he will ensure that another terrorist attack like the one that occurred on October 7th “never happens again.” Netanyahu insists Israel is supportive of his decisions. According to Netanyahu three-fourths of Hamas’ battalions have been destroyed and he believes the “last part” will be finished “in warfare” within four to six weeks.

After the SOTU, a hot mic caught President Biden saying he needed to have a “come to Jesus” meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu. Biden told MSNBC the comment meant that a “very serious meeting” was needed to discuss how the Israeli leader’s actions are “hurting” Israel. Biden claims Netanyahu’s heavy-handed and “over the top” approach is killing too many innocents. The current civilian death toll exceeds 30,000 lives, according to sources from within Gaza. There was an implication that Netanyahu’s continued leadership is not in the “best interests” of the Jewish state.

Netanyahu, when asked during an interview if he would prefer Biden or Trump to win the 2024 election, replied that concerning himself with the American political arena is the “last thing” he wants to do.
